‘Power of Biology’ Conference Videos

by | Dec 23, 2022 | Events

The ‘Power of Biology’ conference hosted by Central Iowa Agronomy & Supply and AgronomyRx on December 7th & 8th was a huge success with approximately 180 people attending. Conference attendees were represented from 12 states. There were lots of positive comments about the number of agronomy specialists and their level of expertise, sharing their cropping and research results that help farmers increase yields and ROIs.

The complete two day meeting presentations are now available on video! You will be able to watch the videos at your convenience and as many times as you want!

You’ll be able to learn some of the latest information on soil and plant health, water quality, micro-nutrients, and optimizing human health from the experts.

What reference books do you have in your library? Where do you get the latest up-to-date information about micro-nutrients, plant growth or plant health? The more information you have, the better grower you will become.

Central Iowa Agronomics is excited to offer our customers and clients a special offer on two reference materials that you will want to add to your library. Each is on sale at a special price.

Plant Analysis Handbook III, A Guide to Sampling, Preparation, Analysis and Interpretation for Agronomic and Horticultural Crops by Dr. David Sasseville
Hardcover – 2014, 571 pages

“Understanding each micro-nutrient and how it relates to plant growth and plant health is vital to managing and maximizing your yield potential. Dr. Sasseville is the micro-nutrient expert in the Midwest and established himself and his repetition while at the University of Missouri for many years. Dr. Sasseville was an important speaker at our “Show Me the Money” Conference and field day. He is the supplier of a good portion of our micro-nutrients that we sell. His book provides specific information on 14+ minerals, how to sample and interpret the test results. Every top-notch grower who is trying to remain profitable should have a copy in his/her library.” Bob Streit – CCA, CPCS, Agronomist

Foliar Fertilization Scientific Principles and Field Practices
by Dr. Patrick Brown
PDF File – 144 pages

Just a few key principles that you will learn about in this field guide:

  • A brief history of foliar fertilization
  • Mechanisms of penetration into the plant
  • Physico-chemical properties of spray solutions and their impact on penetration
  • Environmental, physiological and biological factors affecting plant response to foliar fertilization
  • Effect of the environment on efficacy of foliar-applied nutrients
  • Biological rationale for the use of foliar fertilizers
  • Impact of plant nutritional status on efficacy of foliar fertilizers
  • Regulatory and environmental considerations

“The topic of foliar fertilization commonly draws mixed response from growers, often based on them listening to ‘experts’ who have not studied enough to learn the rules that govern and must be followed. The modern science of foliar feeding was based on work done by H.B. Tukey at Michigan State Univ., who collaborated with the Atomic Energy Commission in his use of radioactively labeled fertilizers.

He verified that minerals varied in their mobility, rate of upward or downward movement in the plants’ vascular tissue, and value of foliar versus soil applied nutrition.

In recent years Dr. Brown built on the foundation that Dr. Tukey laid. The author of this publication has taught and practiced at one of the top U.S. Ag universities. He meant this publication not to be a book that sat on the shelf, but as a guide to be used in the field by growers. They could then achieve success in complementing their soil bank of nutrients with micronutrients, hormonal products, or other products that would add bushels, nutritional value or flavor to the end produce. Each operator would then learn that they could often use foliar mineral applications to help minimize pest problems or negative stress responses.

Dr. Brown’s book is a great field guide for the specifics of foliar fertilization. The rules he spells out include the topics of water quality, the proper monitoring and adjusting of pH and EC levels, understanding plant biology and application timing, and the overall thought process leading to being successful with the use of this practice.” Bob Streit – CCA, CPCS, Agronomist
