Impulse – Product Highlights

Impulse is a new phosphite, mineral and amino acid based product that could revolutionize disease control plus supply important micro-nutrients. The neat part is it can be applied early in the growing season with ground application. It creates such healthy plants that they will stay green and filling grain through the end of the growing season. There is very strong research backing for this product.

Impulse is available for the 2020 growing season and is extremely limited. There are different versions for corn and soybeans. Each product box will treat 100 acres. In the corn box there are three jugs of liquid products and a bag of amino acids. In the soybean product box there are two jugs included and a bag of amino acids. The jugs are labeled as to the order you add them into the spray tank.

We saw double digit yield increases on both soybeans and corn on the limited trials that were done. If offered greater flexibility in timing and method of application.

Spraytec is an innovative micro-nutrient company headquartered in Maringa, SP State, Brazil. They make spray additives that serve five roles in crop production in areas of supplying plant nutrition and aiding in weed control. With weed control they replace AMS 100% and typically half or all of the spray oil, act as a water conditioner, drift retardant, penetrant and compatibility agent. Their mixtures can be used on most crops including corn, soybeans, and most grasses and legumes. Weed control is improved as more of the herbicides’ actives are being absorbed into the weed, rather than dropping to the ground in burnt leaf tissue. Besides acting as a spray additive, including minerals in the mixes boosts plant health enough that disease incidence is lowered or disappears when the product is applied pre-emptively.

They develop and research their products in their labs and greenhouses on site, then manufacture those products in a state-of-the art facility near their corporate headquarters. Eventually they plan to move production to where the products are being used, as in Iowa and the Midwest. The minerals used are all of medical grade and their quality control is excellent.

Basic to their thought process they include phosphites (PO3) in their products. These vary from fertilizer phosphates (PO4) in being totally systemic and act as long lasting fungicides and bactericides. Adding different minerals (Cu, Mn, Mg, Bo, K, and others) broadens the different disease pathogens the mixtures influence. Including specific amino acids (AA) boosts the degree and length of control as well as species of targeted fungi is improved even more. Witness the Fulltec Cube and Fulltec Cube IR. Impulse is the most complete product yet.

The addition of the amino acids to their product mixes allow them to influence plant growth and physiology. You will see additional growth, better plant health, more branching, softer leaves, higher pod counts and higher feed value in grain and forage crops.

When you study the Huber and Datnoff reference book ‘Mineral Nutrition and Plant Disease’ you will begin to understand that most serious plant diseases are related to mineral deficiencies. By supplying one or more minerals in a PO3 based formula that acts systemically with long residual, many of your disease and growth problems will disappear.

I have observed, worked with and recommended their products since 2016 after I learned that accepting severe leaf burn from PPO herbicides was no longer necessary. Dr. Huber and I toured their company in Feb. of 2017 to see the facility and got to know their personnel. They are one of the top three plant nutrition companies in the Americas. Impulse is definitely worthy of being used on a high percent of your crop acres. It widens the optimal plant health window, supplies important micronutrients, broadens the control spectrum, adds branches and pods, and if adequate nutrients are available, can increase yields measurably. See the pictures on the reverse side. Applications at V5 to V8 in corn and by R1 in soybeans can last the full season eliminating expensive trips.
